The Burger King Corporation Applies to Register “Taste is King” in Class 43 in Nigeria

Taste is KingOn January 21, 2013, the Burger King Corporation (BK) lodged an application to register “Taste is King” at the Trademarks, Patents, and Designs Registry in Abuja.  The application covers hotel and restaurant services. Specifically, “services for providing food and drinks etc.” in Class 43.

WIPO’s Global Brand Database, shows that BK has also registered the mark in Class 43 in Morocco, New Zealand, Oman, Singapore and Switzerland.  The status of the mark in Nigeria as of December 31, 2013, was accepted and approved for publication.

Taco Bell Corporation Applies to Register “Taco Bell and Design” in Class 43 in Nigeria

Taco BellAmerican fast-food chain, Taco Bell Corporation, has lodged an application to register “Taco Bell and Design” at the Trademarks, Patents and Designs Registry in Abuja.  The mark consists of a stylized bell design above the words “Taco Bell”.  The application was filed on November 29, 2011 and covers hotel and restaurant services in Class 43.

According to WIPO’s Global Brand Database, Taco Bell has also registered the mark in Class 43 in several countries including, Switzerland, the Philippines and Canada, with a pending application in Israel.

The status of the mark in Nigeria as of December 31, 2013, was accepted and approved for publication.

Sheraton International IP, LLC Applies to Register “Link @ Sheraton” in Class 43 in Nigeria

Link at SheratonSheraton International IP, LLC. (Sheraton), has lodged an application for the registration of the term “Link @ Sheraton” at the Trademarks, Patents, and Designs Registry in Abuja.  The mark consists of the word “Link” in a stylized font above the symbol “@” and the word “Sheraton” with a line between “Link” and “@ Sheraton”.  The application was filed on October 24, 2012 and covers hotel and restaurant services in Class 43.

WIPO’s Global Brand Database, shows that Sheraton has also registered the mark in Class 43 in Algeria, Australia, Canada, Israel, Morocco, Oman and Switzerland.

A Google search for “Link @ Sheraton” shows that the mark is used in connection with a lounge or lobby that allows guests of Sheraton hotels to connect with instant access to information and technology for work and leisure.

The status of the mark in Nigeria as of December 31, 2013, was accepted and approved for publication.

Marble Slab Franchise Brands, LLC Applies to Register “Marble Slab Creamery” in Class 43 in Nigeria

MARBLE SLAB CREAMERYOn May 3, 2012, Marble Slab Franchise Brands, LLC (Marble) lodged an application to register “Marble Slab Creamery” at the Trademarks, Patents, and Designs Registry in Abuja.  The mark consists of the words “Marble Slab Creamery” inside a circle with an ice cream cone inside an inner circle surrounded by dots”.

Marble has registered the mark in Class 43 in Australia, Canada, Egypt, Oman and Singapore with a pending application in Israel.

The status of the mark in Nigeria as of December 31, 2013, was accepted and approved for publication.

LSG Lufthansa Services Holding AG Applies to Register “LSG Sky Chefs” in Class 43 in Nigeria

LSG SKY CHEFSLSG Lufthansa Services Holding AG (Lufthansa) has lodged an application to register “LSG Sky Chefs” at the Trademarks, Patents and Designs Registry in Abuja.  The mark consists of the wording “LSG Sky Chefs” in blue, to the right of a yellow circle containing blue curved bars.  The application was filed on September 25, 2012 and covers hotel and restaurant services in Class 43.

Lufthansa has also registered the mark in Class 43 in Singapore and the United States, with a pending application in Australia.  The mark is used in connection with in-flight or airline catering and the status of the mark in Nigeria as of December 31, 2013, was accepted and advertised for publication.

Kentucky Fried Chicken International Holdings Inc. Applies to Register “Kleva” in Class 43 in Nigeria

Kentucky Fried Chicken International Holdings Inc. has lodged an application to register “Kleva” at the Trademarks, Patents and Designs Registry in Abuja.  The application for the registration was filed on October 25, 2011.  It covers hotel and restaurant services in Class 43.  The status of the mark in Nigeria as of December 31, 2013, was accepted and advertised for publication.

Best Western International Inc. Applies to Register “Stay With People Who Care” in Class 43 in Nigeria

Best Western International Inc. has filed an application to register “Stay With People Who Care” at the Trademarks, Patents and Designs Registry in Abuja.  The application for the registration was filed on February 7, 2013.  It covers hotel and restaurant services in Class 43.  The status of the mark in Nigeria as of December 31, 2013, was accepted and advertised for publication.
