This article is part of a series that highlights trademark applications filed or advertised in Trademark Journals in Nigeria.  Trademark Watch No. 24 highlights a few trademark applications filed between December 2015 and January 2016 in Nigeria.  Specifically in Classes 3 (Cosmetics), Class 35 (Advertising) and Class 39 (Transportation).

Advance Magazine Publishers applies to Register ‘Vogue Wedding Show’ and ‘Vogue’ in Classes 35 and 36 Respectively in Nigeria

Advance Magazine Publishers has lodged separate applications for the registration of the terms “Vogue Wedding Show” and “Vogue”, at the Trademarks, Patents, and Designs Registry in Abuja.  Both applications were filed on December 11, 2015.

‘Vogue Wedding Show’ was filed in Class 35 and covers ‘Advertising business management, Business Administration, Office functions; marketing; promotion; public relations; endorsement; publicity services; business introduction services; organization of fair and trade shows for business, advertising and promotion purposes; retail and wholesale services; franchising services; organisation and management of business incentive and loyalty schemes; the bringing together of consumers and providers of a variety of goods and services in the field of wedding planning’.

The Application for ‘Vogue” was filed in Class 36 ‘and covers ‘Insurance, Financial Affairs, Monetary Affairs and Real Estate Affairs’. Advanced Magazine Publishers have previously applied to register ‘Vogue’ in Classes 35 and 41.

An Application has been Lodged to Register ‘bike9ja (People. Planet. Profit)’ in Class 39 in Nigeria

An application has been lodged for the registration of the terms ‘bike9ja (People. Planet. Profit)’ at the Trademarks, Patents, and Designs Registry in Abuja.

The application was filed on December 1, 2015. Specifically, the application covers:

“Transport; Sustainability; Health and Wellness Services; Rental of land vehicles in particular of cycles and two‐wheeled vehicles; Bike Tours; Exercise and Wellness Services; Rental of parking places for land vehicles in particular for cycles and two‐wheeled vehicles; Bicycle Rental; Transport by bicycle; Arranging and conducting athletic, extreme sports, action sports and stunt competitions; organization of athletic; extreme sports, action sports and stunt shows; Presentation of live show performances; Providing information on personal transportation and alternative to traditional means of commuting to work etc., in Class 39.”

The trademark application is currently awaiting acceptance from the Trademarks Registry.

An Application has been Lodged to Register ‘SoSilk’ in Class 3 in Nigeria

An application has been lodged for the registration of the term ‘SoSilk’ at the Trademarks, Patents, and Designs Registry in Abuja.

The application was filed on January 8, 2016. Specifically, the application covers:

“Shampoos, Heena, Hair Dye, Hair Color, Cosmetics and Toilet Preparations, Cleaning; Cleansing, Polishing; Scouring, Abrasives; Skin Care Preparations, Creams, Lotions, Soaps, Hair Oils, hair Gels, Bath Oils, Deodorants and anti-perspirants for personal use and dentifrices, depilatory etc. in Class 3.”

The trademark is currently awaiting acceptance from the Trademarks Registry.

An Application has been Lodged to Register ‘enega’ in Class 39 in Nigeria

An application has been lodged for the registration of the term ‘enega’ at the Trademarks, Patents, and Designs Registry in Abuja.

The application was filed on January 8, 2016. Specifically, the application covers:

“Heena, Hair Dye, Hair Color, Cosmetics and Toilet Preparations, Cleaning; Cleansing, Polishing; Scouring, Abrasives; Skin Care Preparations, Creams, Lotions, Soaps, Shampoos, Hair Oils, hair Gels, Bath Oils, Deodorants and anti-perspirants for personal use and dentifrices, depilatory etc. in Class 3.”

The trademark application is currently awaiting acceptance from the Trademarks Registry.

Two Separate Applications have been Lodged to Register ‘YAKSHA’ in Classes 3 and 5 in Nigeria

Two separate applications have been lodged for the registration of the term ‘YAKSHA’ at the Trademarks, Patents, and Designs Registry in Abuja.

The application was filed on January 8, 2016. Specifically, the application covers:

“Heena, Hair Dye, Hair Color, Cosmetics and Toilet Preparations, Cleaning; Cleansing, Polishing; Scouring, Abrasives; Skin Care Preparations, Creams, Lotions, Soaps, Shampoos, Hair Oils, hair Gels, Bath Oils, Deodorants and anti-perspirants for personal use and dentifrices, depilatory, Perfumes, Talc, Derma Products, Detergent, Hair Conditioner, Skin Cold Cream, Massage Creams, Facial Cream, Face Wash, Hair Serum, Hair Growth Preparation, Anti Hair Loss-Preparation, Essential Oil etc. in Class 3.”

In Class 5, the application covers “Ayurvedic Preparations Including Herbal Products, Ayurvedic Hair Oil, Hair Growth Preparation, Anti Hair-Loss Preparation, Cream, Ayurvedic Shapmpoo, Ayurvedic Medicated Oil, Ayurvedic Body Relaxation Preparation, Ayurvedic Skin Preparation, Herbal Henna, Herbal Hair Activa etc.

 

The trademark applications are currently awaiting acceptance from the Trademarks Registry.
