Title of Invention: Petrol-In-Water Grease Stripper
Date of Patent: 5/12/2012
Patent No: NG/P/2012/663
Applicant. Dr. Clementyinad, Igwebike-Ossi – Department of Industrial Chemistry, Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, Nigeria
Inventor: Association of Nigerian Inventors (ANI) (Abuja)
Abstract: A novel cleansing formulation called grease stripper with excellent degreasing power is unveiled. This grease stripper was formulated using 38-42% by weight of petrol in the emulsified form as the degreasing agent. Emulsification was achieved using 15-19% by weight of alkyl phenol ethoxylate, a non-ionic surfactant as the emulsifier to give a petrol-in-water emulsion. In this product, the powerful degreasing action of petrol combines with the outstanding emulsifying, solubilizing and detersive ability of the ethoxylate to give an excellent degreasing effect when used to clean surfaces heavily soiled with oil and grease. Sodium silicate (0.5% by weight), an anti-corrosion agent was incorporated to protect the degreased metal surfaces from corrosion.
