Schedule of Events for COSON Week – November 1 – 7!

October 28, 2015 — Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) is set to hold the 2015 COSON Week from November 1 – 7. Below is a run-down of the events scheduled for the week as published by COSON:

Sunday, November 1:  ‘COSON in the Church’ – the big national day of prayer and invocation to the Almighty which holds at the KICC Prayer Dome in Maryland, Lagos. The plush red carpet event will have on stage Nigeria’s most celebrated gospel singers and some of the most respected ministers of the gospel in the country. Among the many stars expected to thrill the audience are reggae gospel crooner, Buchi; the sweet singing star, Chidinma; Prince of the Delta, Asu Ekiye; Sonorous voiced Frank Edwards and Princess of the Gospel, Ann Inyang.  Several pastors and bishops have confirmed their participation at the great show which will be anchored by Victor Oladokun who is very famous around the world for his exceptional presentation of great Christian programmes like ‘Turning Point’  Red carpet and cocktails begin at 3.00pm. This event is strictly by invitation.

 Monday, November 2: ‘The 2015 COSON Lecture’- Prof Bankole Sodipo, founding President, Intellectual Property Law Association of Nigeria (IPLAN) will deliver the COSON Lecture on “Intellectual Property Rights in the Digital Economy” at the Banquet Hall, Lagos Sheraton Hotel Ikeja. Following the lecture, a star studded panel made up of the masked singer, Lagbaja; Hon Desmond Elliot, the ‘A’ list actor; Mr. Audu Maikori, President Chocolate City Group and Mr. Raymond Mgbeokwere, Head, Legal Services at Nigeria’s biggest bank, First Bank, will discuss the subject.    

 A major highlight of the 2015 COSON Lecture will be the presentation of the Copyright Grand Medal to the nation’s elder statesman and unsurpassed legal luminary, Prince Bola Ajibola. The COSON Lecture will be chaired by the IT guru and business mogul, Chief Leo Stan Ekeh. The Lecture begins at 10 am and is strictly by invitation.

 Tuesday, November 3: ‘COSON IN THE STREETS’A rainbow of stars gives meaning to the dignity of labour as they clean the streets, control traffic and give alms to the needy with a party on the move over the streets of Lagos. The 2015 COSON IN THE STREET train will be flagged off at 10 am at the National Theatre, Iganmu. The train will have top music stars and will take Eko Bridge, pass through the Marina and will be seen by fans in Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Lekki and Ajah where a major open air throw down will take place. This event is open to the general public free of charge.

 Wednesday November 4, 2015: The COSON Green Ball- An exquisite evening of 1st class music and fine dining for the crème de la crème of Nigeria at the Shell hall of MUSON Center Onikan in support of the COSON Music Foundation, the non-profit trust in support of indigent Nigerian musicians and musicians in distress. Green Carpet begins at 6.30 pm at the show that will be chaired by the well-known lady of glamour herself, Senator (Princess) Florence Ita-Giwa.

 This event is strictly by invitation.

Thursday November 5, 2015: The COSON All Stars Table Tennis Blow-Out!
It will be an amazing spectacle at the battle on the table by the big stars of Nigerian music, movies, comedy and their cheering friends and fans as they serve, return, cut, spin, smash and loop at the “COSON All Stars Table Tennis Blow Out!” Among the many stars who will do the battle on the board are MC Galaxy, Akpororo, Timi Dakolo, Reekardo Banks, Skales, Emeka Smith, D’Lyte, etc. Others who have just joined the battle include Jaywon, Masterkraft, CDQ, Dipp, Kas, Tekno, Konga, Righteosman, Y Q, etc.

 The venue of the COSON All Stars Table Tennis Blow Out war is the Multipurpose Hall of Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere. Time is 11 am and the general public will be given a treat with great music for free!

Friday, November 6, 2015: THE COSON SONG AWARDS – The glitz, the glamour of an award show incomparable. The red carpet ‘fantastico’ will be like no other. This show is unmissable! The top nominees for the awards include Kiss Daniel, Jude, Peter & Paul Okoye ( P-Square), Davido, Omawummi, Orezi, Cobhams, Timi Dakolo, Asa, Dare Art Alade, Sheyi Shay, Tiwa Savage, Di’ Ja, Frank Edwards, Eben, Joe Praize, BOUQUI, Mc Galaxy, lil Kesh, Olamide,Tekno Miles, M. I., Phyno, Vector the Viper, Ice Prince, Korede Bello, Simi & Falz, Harry Song, Don Jazzy, Yemi Alade, Wizkid, 2 Face Idibia, Patoranking, Flavour, Runtown,Chidinma and Dr. Sid

The Master of Songs Award, a life time achievement award, will be presented to juju music superstar and master composer, Ebenezer Obey.  

On the stage to present the awards will be the likes of top politicians, Jimi Agbaje and Lucy Ajayi. With music in their blood, Yeni Kuti, Weird MC and Azeezat, the Queen of ‘Hairvolution’, will be on show.  Also in the klieg lights will be British Council’s, Ojoma Ochei, First Bank’ Bridget Oyefeso Odusami; Multichoice MD, John Ugbe and the brand new Lagos State Commissioner of Information & Strategy, Steve Ayorinde. Big boys of the pen profession like former MD of the Sun Newspaper and immediate past Commissioner for Information in Anambra State, Tony Onyima, the King of Soft Sell and Publisher of Encomium Magazine, Kunle Bakare and the PR Big Boy, Charles Otudor will also be on the stage at the new Expo Hall for the night of a thousand stories. Red Carpet ‘Fanatstico’ starts at 7.00 pm prompt. Those wishing to witness this historic event and rub shoulders with Nigeria’s glitterati will have to log on to for tickets to the show of shows.

Saturday November 7, 2015: COSON STORMS THE BEACH! – This is the spectacular Open Air Beach Concert with thousands of music fans. It will be the Grand Finale of the amazing COSON Week. The new Majek Fashek along with his group, Prisoner of Conscience 911 is leading an armada of 100 of Nigeria’s topmost stars including Vector the Viper, Chidinma, Ras Kimono, Baba Dee, Ycee, Chuddy K, Young Grace, Adekunle Gold, Joel, Show Dem Camp, Solid Star, etc. for a show never to be forgotten at Atican Beach Resort, off Abraham Adesanya Estate in Ajah. The groove will be on from 2.00pm till cock crow the next day. Tickets are available at and vendors across Lagos.

 It is clear that there is nothing anywhere else like the COSON Week, the week of non-stop excitement, spectacle and fun.
