U.S. News | Salt Life Sues Salt Life Sober Living LLC for Trademark Infringement

An apparel company, Salt Life LLC has filed a lawsuit in the Florida Middle District Court against drug and alcohol addiction treatment company, Salt Life Sober Living LLC for trademark infringement.

The plaintiff alleges that the defendant uses a similar name which has caused actual confusion to consumers and the public to believe that the brands are affiliated.

The plaintiff reportedly said that Salt Life LLC, which is an apparel company owns the trademark for its name covering clothing, gear, beer, and restaurant services.

The plaintiff reportedly said that the infringement has caused lots of damages to the distinctive quality of Salt Life’s marks, confusion, and false declaration of origin.

The plaintiff reportedly said that the treatment center’s use constituted trademark dilution because its marks are legally famous without permission or authorization.

Salt Life LLC is demanding that a court prohibit Salt Life Sober Living LLC from using a confusingly similar trademark and pay unspecified damages.

The case is ongoing.
