The training course will be organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in cooperation with the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization and the Japan Patent Office (JPO). It will take place from September 4 through 8 at the ARIPO Secretariat in Harare, Zimbabwe.

Patent Agents will be invited from countries across Africa including Botswana, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Ten of the participants will be sponsored by WIPO. National Intellectual Property Offices will make the selection of the Patent Agents to attend.

A similar course was held at the ARIPO Secretariat from September 7 to 9 October 2015 that trained 23 Patent Agents. The course began with tutorials on patent drafting and was followed by drafting exercises.
