The National Agency for Food, Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has sealed two counterfeit animal drug factories in Bichi Local Government Area of Kano State.
The state Coordinator of the agency, Shaba Muhammad reportedly said that the raid was conducted after a large number of counterfeit animal drugs were in circulation at Sabon Gari and other major markets in Kano metropolis.
Shaba reportedly said that the agency has been on the close watch of the producer of the fake drugs for the past six months.
Shaba reportedly said that the factories were raided in Bichi town and recovered drugs worth over N10 million.
Shaba reportedly said that the factories produced fake animal drugs and injections labeled with fake NAFDAC’s registration numbers to deceive unsuspected members of the public.
According to Shaba, one suspect, Jamilu Muhammad-Sani, who is the proprietor of the factories was arrested.
Shaba reportedly said that the suspect would be prosecuted after investigations had been concluded by NAFDAC.
Shaba explored Nigerians to report suspicious activities and persons engaged in the illicit drug trade in their communities to the relevant agencies of government to check the circulation of counterfeit products in the state.
