Nigerian Copyright Commission Seizes N7M worth of Pirated Optical Discs

NLIPW Newroom whiteAbuja, Nigeria – Eight suspects have been arrested by the Nigerian Copyright Commission in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, for the unauthorized reproduction and distribution of pirated optical discs. Vanguard reports that the optical discs were discovered during a recent raid of Kubwa and Kuba areas of Abuja. According to the Acting Director of Enforcement, NCC, Mr. Augustine Amadu, 28,000 copies of optical discs were recovered during the raid including movies and musical works and an ongoing investigation is in place to uncover the main sources of the pirated goods.
