Nigeria News | NAFDAC Arrests Fake Insecticides Supplier

Last week, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) apprehended one Ebuka Ugwuanyi in Port Harcourt for supply of fake insecticides.

NAFDAC South Zone spokesman, Cyril Monye, disclosed that Ebuka Ugwuanyi was arrested and 110 boxes containing products estimated to be worth more than two million naira were recovered after a successful raid and mop up of fake ‘Read A Dream’ insecticide in Port Harcourt.

According to the agency, the fake insecticides contains unacceptable active ingredients which is foamy and watery and it was cloned from the original which was imported and registered by CU-BAS INT’L (NIG) LTD.

The raid took place following a tip-off which prompted the agency to swing into action visiting places including Port Harcourt metropolis, Mile 1 Market, Diobu leading to the arrest of a hawker along Aba road who led the NAFDAC team to a residential building at No. 38 Iguruta Road, Rumukurushi, Port Harcourt where the 110 boxes were recovered in a two-bedroom apartment.
