Nigeria: MultiChoice Commends Copyright Commission, Trains Staff on Anti-Piracy


The management of MultiChoice Nigeria has commended the efforts of the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) in fighting broadcast piracy in Nigeria.

MultiChoice is a major digital TV Broadcast Company and owners of DSTV and GOTV.

Speaking during a broadcast piracy training program organised for Kano and Kaduna states staff members of the Commission, the Anti-piracy Northern Regional Manager of MultiChoice, Mr. Umar Abdulasis, commended the Commission for its work in the fight against broadcast piracy.

During his presentation on March 20, 2017, he enlightened the staff on broadcast piracy, the various types of broadcast piracy and how it affects MultiChoice and the entire industry. He noted that cable piracy is the most common form of broadcast piracy in the country and that with the proactive support of the Commission, MultiChoice is tackling the menace.

Mr. Abdulasis applauded the Director-General of the Commission Mr. Afam Ezekude and the entire staff of the northern region for adequate policies and continuous support to the Company and other stakeholders in fighting the scourge.

Other members of MultiChoice Company in attendance include Mr. O. Tunde, Mallam U. Shamsudeen; Mr. B. Vincent and the entire staff of the Commission within the region led by the Zonal Manager, North West Hassan Usman.
