
The Trademarks, Patents and Designs Registry in Nigeria has published a new Trademarks Journal dated September 30, 2020. The Journal titled Online & Pre-Ipas Trade marks Journal Vol. 1, No. 6, covers some trademark applications filed online using the Registry’s online system. The goods in respect of the following Trade Marks are in classes 1-34 of schedule 4, and service marks in classes 35-45.
“Pursuant to Section 19 of the Trademarks Act, notice is hereby given that applications have been received for registration of the following Trademarks.
Any person who has grounds of opposition to the registration of any of the marks advertised shall within two months from the date hereof give notice to the Registrar of such opposition.
Such notice shall be in writing and in the prescribed manner setting out the ground and shall be submitted in duplicate. On completion of the preliminary proceedings, both the opponent and the applicant shall within one month, file with the Registrar their briefs of argument with copies of the legal authorities relied upon therein.
Public Notice
The journal includes a public notice informing applicants whose marks are advertised in the journal to endeavor to complete their registration within twelve (12) months from the date of the journal, September 30, 2020.
According to the registry, the proprietors of trademarks are also advised to renew their trademarks registration, which has expired or about to expire on or before the date of this publication.
