U.S. News | Nakia Johnson Sues Amazon and eBay for Copyright Infringement


An artist, Nakia Johnson has filed a lawsuit in the Oklahoma Western District Court against Amazon and eBay for copyright infringement.

Nakia Johnson does business as Pictur It Designs & Apparel (PIDA) and owns a U.S. Registration No. VA 1-888-770 for the work “RUN OKC”.

The plaintiff reportedly said that the registration covers previous or alternative titles for the work such as “RUN OKC and “Okc downtown (Skyline)”.

The plaintiff alleges that Amazon and eBay copied, reproduced and distributed the protected elements of the work to the public without permission or authorization.

The plaintiff reportedly said that the defendant’s willful infringement has caused lots of damages and confusion.  

The plaintiff reportedly said that the defendants have deprived them of the benefits of his copyright and had caused lots of damages to the business relationships with present and prospective customers.

The plaintiff reportedly said that it has suffered profit loss from this act of infringement.

Johnson is seeking an injunction, an award for damages, an award for costs and fees

The case is pending.
