
New York-based photographer, Mark Seliger has filed a lawsuit in the New York Southern District Court against NBCUniversal for copyright infringement.
The plaintiff alleges that the NBCUniversal Media-owned gossip portal, Eonline.com reproduced the photographer’s famous portraits without permission.
The plaintiff reportedly said that he is a fulfilled photographer with many of his work appearing in Rolling Stone, GQ, Vogue, and Vanity Fair.
Mark Selinger reportedly said that he has also created photography in collaboration with global brands like Netflix, Levi’s, and Ralph Lauren. He has won numerous awards, including the Clio Grand Prix and the Cannes Lions Grand Prix, and his works are part of the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, and the National Portrait Gallery in London.
The plaintiff alleges that the infringement has caused lots of damages, loss of profits and licensing fees.
The plaintiff reportedly said that dozens of his iconic copyrighted celebrity portraits are listed on Eonline.com including those depicting Miley Cyrus, Ben Affleck, Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Nicky Minaj, Johnny Depp, Jennifer Lopez, Alec Baldwin, Jamie Dornan, Amy Schumer, Bradley Cooper, Katie Holmes, among others.
The case is ongoing.
