John Asein has been appointed as the new Director-General of the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC).

He has authored many publications that center on copyright law in Nigeria such as “Nigerian Copyright Law and Practice (Second Edition); Introduction to Nigerian Legal System; Nigerian Copyright Law and Practice; A Decade of Copyright Law in Nigeria; Introduction to Nigerian Legal System; Intellectual Property and Advertising; Learning the Law: A Beginner’s Guide to Legal Studies in Nigeria; and The Nigerian Copyright Act with Introduction and Notes.

Asein was the former Director of Nigerian Copyright Institute (NCI), which is the training and capacity building arm of the NCC.

He attended the University of New Hampshire School of Law where he obtained a Masters in Intellectual Property Law. He also received an LL.M. (Master of Laws) from the University of Lagos.
