India: CGPDTM Invites Applications for National Intellectual Property Awards 2017

The Office of Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks in India is currently accepting applications for the National Intellectual Property Awards 2017. The awards are conferred each year by recognizing and rewarding individuals and enterprises who are best achievers in the field of IPRs in terms of creation and commercialization of IP.

National IP Awards are intended to encourage creativity and innovation and management of intellectual property portfolio that influences the success of business in different industry segments.

The awards will be presented this year to the awardees at an event to be organized in Delhi on April 26, 2017, coinciding with World IP Day, by the Office of Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks in collaboration with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

This year, 10 categories will be recognized. They are:

i. Top Individual for Patents & Commercialization.

ii. Top Indian Academic Institution for Patents & Commercialization.

iii. Top R & D Institution or Organisation for Patents & Commercialization.

iv. Top Public Limited Company or Private Limited Company for Patents & Commercialization in India.

v. Top Indian MSME for Patents & Commercialization.

vi. Top Start-up for IP Commercialization.

vii. Top Indian Company or Organization for Designs and Commercialization.

viii. Top Indian Company for creating Global Brands.

ix. Top Individual or Organization for Best facilitation of Registration of GI and Promotion of Registered GI in India.

x. Best Police Unit for Enforcement of IP in the Country.

Winners in each category will receive a cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000.
