Global Congress Advocates Stiffer Penalty For Copyright Piracy and Counterfeiting

Participants at the Seventh Edition of the Global Congress on Combating Counterfeiting and Piracy have canvassed for stiffer penalties for copyright piracy and counterfeiting and also called for an international mechanism to be put in place for checking movement of goods across borders.  The Congress which took place at the Istanbul Lufti Kirdar Convention and Exhibition Centre, Turkey on April 24 -26, 2013, with the theme “Evolving Challenges, Innovative Responses”, was a collaboration between the Ministry of Customs and Trade of Turkey; World Customs Organisation (WCO); World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO); INTERPOL and other international organizations. Read more
