U.S. News | Dream Rich Entertainment Sues Meek Mill, Atlantic Records over Lifted Lyrics

A Philadelphia-based songwriting company, Dream Rich Entertainment has filed a lawsuit in the Pennsylvania Eastern District Court against Meek Mill and Atlantic Records for copyright infringement.

The plaintiff alleges that it controlled songwriter is the lone writer of “100 Summers” and “Cold Hearted II” which was written between June and October 2018.

The plaintiff reportedly said that it owns the tracks copyrights as well as the copyrights associated with several other lyrics that the defendants allegedly lifted without permission or authorization.

The plaintiff reportedly said that the defendants had access to the lyrics written by the controlled songwriters in early November 2018 and further recorded them for his fourth studio album, Championships, which dropped on November 30th, 2018.

The plaintiff alleges that the infringement has caused lots of damages, confusion, and false designation of origin.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $75,000 and others as the court deems fit.

The case is ongoing.
