COSON Issues ‘Caveat Emptor’ Warning Relating to Etisalat Lawsuit

The Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) recently put out a statement, signed by one Simi Wash-Pam, aimed at warning any party acquiring interest in Emerging Markets Telecommunication Services Limited (Etisalat Nigeria).

According to COSON, it is notifying the public that there is a pending lawsuit against Etisalat and former CEO, Matthew Willsher,  in Suit No: FHC/L/CS/363/2017 and so parties acquiring interest should be aware of this fact.

RE: ETISALAT/9MOBILE/ EMERGING MARKETS TELECOMMUNICATION SERVICES LIMITED

ISSUED BY COPYRIGHT SOCIETY OF NIGERIA LTD/GTE (COSON)

COSON notifies any person or group of persons, organisation(s) or interest(s) who may have entered or are intending to enter into any form of legal relationship, however described, for the purpose of which they wish to acquire or have acquired any interest in Emerging Markets Telecommunication Services Limited, Etisalat Nigeria, 9Mobile or however so called, of the claim by COSON against the operators of Etisalat for the sum of N12, 000,000,000.00 (Twelve Billion Naira) only, in Suit No: FHC/L/CS/363/2017 subsisting at the Federal High Court: Copyright Society of Nigeria Ltd/Gte (COSON) v. Emerging Markets Telecommunications Services Ltd & Matthew Willsher.

 The case against Etisalat is currently pending.
