Research and Data Intern, Anti-counterfeiting and Piracy Incident Data Project

Description
The Editorial Team at Nigerian Law Intellectual Property Watch Inc., is seeking a Research and Data Intern to work as part of the team developing an Anti-Counterfeiting and Piracy Incident Research Database for Nigeria. The Research and Data Intern will conduct online research that captures information about counterfeiting and piracy suspects (including age and gender), victims, locations, arrests, seizures, estimated value of products, destruction exercises, product types, and the government agencies conducting operations in each incident.

The Intern will have the opportunity to work remotely but the Internship generally requires at least 10 hours per week for a period of 6 months, although there is some flexibility. The position is intended for students with a demonstrated interest in or aptitude for writing about government and policy. While a background in law is preferred, it is not mandatory for this role.

Qualifications

  • Excellent attention to numeric detail
  • Excellent online research skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to take initiative and work unsupervised
  • Proficiency in Excel and basic mathematical computations
  • Willingness and ability to learn

News Reporting Intern

Description
The Newsroom Team at Nigerian Law Intellectual Property Watch Inc., is seeking a News Reporting Intern to work out of our partner office in Lagos. The News Reporting Intern will report on public health, access to medicine, cases of trademarks and copyright infringement, big data, innovation and technology, new patents, agriculture, piracy, traditional knowledge and much more. The Intern will have the opportunity to work remotely at least three days a week with flexible hours.

The position is intended for students with a demonstrated interest in or aptitude for writing about government and policy. While a background in law is preferred, it is not mandatory for this role.
