During the Arraignment, Prosecuting counsel, Mr. Umar Shamaki informed the court of the charges against the Accused. Counsel to the Accused, Mr. Chukwudi Nneke in his bail application, urged the court to admit the accused to bail as the offence was bailable. Although bail was not opposed by the Prosecuting Counsel, he prayed the court to impose stringent conditions. The Accused was granted bail in the sum of N1 million and two sureties in like sum. The court stated that one of the sureties must be a relative of the Accused and the second a landed property owner within the court’s jurisdiction, with evidence of three years tax clearance.
The Accused was remanded to prison pending the fulfillment of his bail conditions.
